現為香港中樂團嗩吶助理首席及管子演奏家,並任教於香港演藝學院。8 歲起於音樂事務處得高秩羣啟蒙學習嗩吶。早年曾隨郭雅志研習嗩吶及管子及隨羅行良學習嗩吶。2006 及 2008 年獲頒「匯豐銀行慈善基金—香港內地學生交流獎學金」,分別到上海及北京隨著名嗩吶演奏家劉英及著名管子演奏家胡志厚深造嗩吶及管子。2011至 2013 年修讀演藝學院音樂演奏碩士,隨夏博研及盧偉良雙主修嗩吶及管子。曾獲獎項包括:2013年首届「全國嗩吶邀請賽」銅獎;2011年河北邯鄲首屆「中國吹歌藝術大賽」最佳演奏獎;亦曾於中學時期連續四度奪得香港校際音樂節嗩吶深造組冠軍。
胡氏演出經驗豐富,2016年獲香港廣東音樂團邀請於「嶺南樂韻」音樂會中擔任嗩吶獨奏嘉賓,同年獲康樂及文化事務處邀請,舉辦音樂顯才華系列「胡晉僖嗩吶與管演奏會」,並與多位著名作曲家合作,委約並首演多首新作品;2014年與「竹韻小集」合作,擔任管子協奏曲《絲綢之路幻想組曲》獨奏;2012 年舉辦「開放音樂」街頭音樂系列「胡晉僖與友人」音樂會。
近年參與香港中樂團的主要演出包括:2019 年於希臘 Athens & Epidaurus Festival 及 2017 年於俄羅斯 Sochi Winter Festival 擔任嗩吶獨奏;於2017年「千水情」、2016年「性格一族」、2015年「心樂集」、「心潮逐浪高」等音樂會中擔任獨奏。
Wu Chun Hei is currently Suona Assistant Principal and guan musician of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and concurrently a faculty member of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He started his training in suona at the Music Office under Ko Tit-kwan at the age of eight, then went on to train in suona and guan under Guo Yazhi, and suona under Law Hang Leung. He was awarded The Hongkong Bank Foundation Hong Kong-Mainland Exchange Scholarship twice, in 2006 and 2008, which enabled him to go to Shanghai to receive suona training under Liu Ying and to Beijing to receive suona and guan training under Hu Zhihou. Between 2011 and 2013, he completed a Master’s degree course in Music Performance at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, with a double major in suona and guan under Xia Boyan and Lo Wai Leung. Wu is a winner of many awards, which include a Bronze Award at the first All China Suona Invitation Competition in 2013, the Best Performance Award at the first China Chuige Art Competition held in Handan, Hebei, in 2011, and was the Champion of the Suona (Senior Class) for four consecutive years at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival while still in secondary school.
Wu is a seasoned performer. In 2016, he was a guest suona solo at the ‘Music of South China’ concert at the invitation of the Hong Kong Cantonese Orchestra, which was followed by the ‘Suona and Guan Concert by Wu Chun-hei’ presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department as part of its Our Music Talents series. This enabled him to collaborate with a number of renowned composers through commissioning new works and premiering them. In 2014, he joined the Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble on the concert stage with his solo performance in the guan concerto, Silk Road Fantasia Suite. In 2012, he presented the ‘Wu Chun-hei & Friends’ concert as part of the Street Music Series.
As a member of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Wu’s notable performances in recent years include playing suona solo at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival in Greece (2019) and the Sochi Winter Festival in Russia (2017), and as soloist in the Orchestra’s concerts, ‘Ode to Water’ (2017), ‘Music of Character’ (2016), ‘Music from the Heart’ and ‘Surf’s Up!’ (2015).
