Jacky 畢業於香港演藝學院,主修結他演奏,雖然他入學時跳讀了 2 年級,但他從來沒完成他的學位課程,主要是因為他腦裡那些出奇的構思和*ADHD 的細胞,推使他取得高級演奏文憑後,就立即離開了學校,急不及待踏上「成為結他手」的冒險旅程。幸運的是:畢業的同年,他就 獲 唱 片 公 司 賞 識 , 邀 請 他 出 版 第 一 張 個 人 唱 片《Amazing Guitar.Amazing Grace》。
跟據 Jacky 的描述,宇宙裡一直有兩股強大的力量,牽引著他的人生,第一是「唔彈結他會死」的熱誠,其次是「小強般打不死」的頑固,就是這兩股力量,驅使他排除 萬難,去到地球的另一邊(美國),與世上最出色的結他監製- Kim Person 合作完成了第二張專輯 -《Move On》,在香港出版後,迅即擠身 HMV 最受歡迎之十大唱片,以及 HK Record 之銷量排行榜三甲,並...... (下省三千字)
至今 Jacky 仍未能相信的震撼事實,是 Tommy Emmanuel(地球上最強的 Fingerstyle 結他大師) 曾公開稱讚他的演奏為 Impeccable (無懈可擊);更向傳媒極力推薦他的唱片! 16 年,Jacky 成為全球僅 14 名應邀之結他演奏家之一,代表香港,與來自各國之頂尖演奏家,包括 Don Ross(加拿大)、Luca Stricagnoli (意大利)、以及一些你多數未聽過的名字,於北京同台演出。他也曾應邀到訪過很多國家演出,如日本、迪拜、南非等等,還有許許多多名字太長, 未能抄出來的 Festival......
而真正令外界關注,就是為何主修古典結他的 Jacky,竟曾與這麼多流行歌手合作(劉德華、區瑞強、周柏豪、陳松伶、關心妍、張崇德、衛蘭衛詩等)他的回應一如既往:「我也不知道,只能感謝上帝給我人生裡的種種奇妙經歷!」 Jacky 曾連續超過 10 天睡在辦公室,每天埋頭苦幹 18 小時,成功製作出「You Raise Me Up 結他曲集」!但他人生最瘋狂的一次,卻是看到 Youtube 裡一位非洲奇人彈結他之後,竟真的出發去到非洲一個多月,深入 Botswana 的森林,穿越了無數危險,終於在一個荒蕪之處找到這位奇人,並跟他學習了一星期結他(只能用手語)! 或許因為這「像電影情節」般誇張的決心,打動了香港演藝學院,把他評選為全港僅三位之一的 Alumni Star 星級校友;同年,英國牛津大學出版社更訪問 Jacky,將他的故事列入其教科書的課文主題;2015 年,他更獲提名為「香港青年夢想實踐家」,最後獲選成為十大得獎者之一。
因為 Jacky 是香港極少數(<0.001%)的人,仍然相信「夢想可以當飯食」,所以他以畢生的心血(和金錢)創辦了一間名為 Guitar Concept 的結他學校,以他「想做就做,不顧後果」的失敗營商之道,至今奇蹟地運作到 10 年,擁有超過 400 位學生。目前,他也是香港演藝學院 30 多年來,唯一一位 Fingerstyle 結他講師,但真正讓他感到驕傲的,是他讓 Fingerstyle 結他成為了演藝學院裡的正式科目,對日後香港,甚至亞洲結他界的發展,產生了一定的影響! During his study at The Hong Kong Academy for performing arts (HKAPA), Jacky majored in guitar performance. Despite his skipping directly to the second year, Jacky never completed the entire course to obtain a degree. After receiving an Advanced Diploma in guitar performance, his creative yet unpredictable thoughts combined with a strand of ADHD* pushed Jacky to drop out of the course to pursue his dream of becoming a professionally acknowledged guitarist. Luckily, the same year, Jacky received an invitation from a music label to record his first solo album《Amazing Guitar.Amazing Grace》.
According to Jacky, his life was lead by two strong forces in the Universe. Firstly, it is the passion that felt like there is no tomorrow if he ever stopped play guitar. Secondly, it is his persistence in believing that what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger. It is under the influence of these two strong forces that drove Jacky to the other side of the globe(USA) to record his second hit album《Move On》with one of the greatest guitar music producer on our planet, Kim Person. It is no surprise that 《Move On》became one of the most popular albums after released in HK, as well as reaching top-three of HK Records , top-ten of HMV.... And ( 3,000 more words skipped here) Furthermore, the most overwhelming and unbelievable comment Jacky received over the years must be Tommy Emmanuel publicly sharing to media and describing Jacky’s album as impeccable. In 2016, Jacky represented Hong Kong to perform in Beijing alongside of 13 virtuosic guitar masters from all over the world. Performers including Canadian representative Don Ross, Italian representative Luca Stricagnoli, and many other names that you may probably never heard before. Jacky also received invitations to perform all over the globe, such as Japan, Dubai, South Africa, and many other Festivals with a too-long-name that we cant remember... However, the public is fascinated by the fact that Jacky,as a classical guitarist, collaborated with such a long list of Pop singers, like Andy Lau, Albert Au, Pakho Chau, Jill & Janice Vidal etc...
When asked about his thought on working with various artists and musicians, Jacky would simply reply: “I have no clue, I can only give thanks to god for all the amazing adventures in my life!” Before the release of the ‘You Raise Me Up Guitar Song Book’, Jacky stayed in his office to record and work on the album 18 hours daily for 10 consecutive days. However, nothing could compare to visiting and learning from a guitar virtuoso in Botswana, a land of the unknown to Jacky, simply after seeing a youtube video of the guitarist playing! It may be Jacky’s determination that convinced HKAPA to list him as one of the only three“Alumi Star” in Hong Kong; in the same year, Oxford Publication of UK included his story as part of the teaching programs of the national school textbooks; and in 2015, Jacky was also nominated as a Youth Dream Maker, in which Jacky became one of the ten individuals to made it to the 2015 final list of Youth Dream Makers.
Perhaps Jacky is one of the very few people(<0.001%) in Hong Kong who still believes in making a living out of your dream, therefore after a lot of hard work and his life’s savings he founded Guitar Concept.After 8 years of running the guitar academy under the business concept of ‘do what you love without caring about the consequences’, Guitar Concept currently offers guitar classes to over 400 students. Jacky is also currently the only guitar Fingerstyle lecturer at HKAPA since the academy founded in 1984. However, it is his influence in making guitar Fingerstyle an official course in the academy that brought the most pride to Jacky. It is foreseen that the guitar Fingerstyle course will bring change and influence to the guitar music industry in both Hong Kong and the rest of Asia. One of the cherished achievement Jacky is most proud of would be showing the greatest guitar composer on Earth, Roland Dyens, the magnificent view of Hong Kong through a ride on the cable car up to the Victoria Peak. * Remark: Jacky was diagnosed with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). One of the symptoms of the disorder include not focusing on and not showing interest in things that the affected person does not feel interested to; but instead, when something of interest appears, all of their focus would be on the subject, with an immense level of creativity most of the time.
