陳啟賢 Kenny Chan出生於香港,12歲開始彈奏古典結他,及後遠赴美國亞利桑那州立大學修畢音樂學士和碩士學位,進修期間師從Frank Koonce教授學習,更於2008至2010年期間於該校結他系擔任助教一職。
Kenny Chan在美國留學時亦積極參與當地結他音樂節,活躍眾多表演,包括受邀在NASM (National Association of Schools of Music) 和IAWM (International Alliance for Women in Music)的會議上演奏。他也是Phoenix Guitar Quartet結他四重奏樂團成員,曾演奏《Night on Bald Mountains》的結他四重奏改編,最終更獲Productions D'oz出版公司公開發行。Kenny Chan和他的四重奏樂團還曾與阿根廷作曲家 Marcelo Coronel合作,受邀參加該作曲家於美國的首場音樂會。Kenny Chan同時曾經在多位世界知名的結他演奏家的 Master Class 中演出,包括Pepe Romero、Eduardo Fernandez、Ana Vidovic、Elliot Fisk、Alvaro Pierri、Lorenzo Micheli等。
2010年回到香港後,Kenny Chan 持續投入專業表演和音樂教育生涯,例如於2013年受邀擔任Amadeus Guitar Duo二重奏的開幕嘉賓,並於2014年在現代古典結他大師Roland Dyens的香港演奏會同台演奏。Roland Dyens在音樂會結束後,非常讚賞Kenny Chan音樂水平 “… Kenny Chan is a very talented guitarist, I wish him the best career possible, as he deserves!”(Kenny Chan 是一位非常有才華的結他手,我祝願他的演奏事業能夠發展愈來愈好,因為他應得的!)
Kenny Chan多次為本地電視台TVB錄製《文化廣場》節目,並接受《東方日報》等報紙媒體的採訪。他亦不時舉辦音樂會,2016年就在香港演藝學院舉辦了個人結他獨奏,同年他亦受邀作為評審團成員參加第一屆Altamira香港國際結他研討會。
他在音樂之外的愛好包括足球、讀書和調酒。他的音樂受the Beatles、J.S. Bach、Beethoven、Brahms、Jobim、Joao Gilberto等樂隊、作曲家及樂手影響,也長時間得到身邊親友的支持。 Kenny Chan現正準備於2022年底之前發行他的新古典結他專輯。
Kenny Chan, born in Hong Kong, began playing the classical guitar at the age of 12. Kenny received both the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Arizona State University, where he studied with Prof. Frank Koonce. He held the position of Teaching Assistant at the Guitar Department during 2008-2010.
Kenny Chan participated in numerous Guitar Festivals throughout the United States. As an active performer in the U.S., Kenny was invited to perform in the conferences of NASM (National Association of Schools of Music) and the IAWM (International Alliance for Women in Music). He was also a member of the Phoenix Guitar Quartet and had performed the creative work of guitar quartet arrangements of ‘Night on Bald Mountains’, this work was later published through Productions D’oz. Kenny and his quartet had also worked with the Argentine Composer, Marcelo Coronel, and were invited to play in the composer’s debut concert in the U.S. Kenny has performed in masterclasses for several world-renowned guitar virtuosi, including Pepe Romero, Eduardo Fernandez, Ana Vidovic, Elliot Fisk, Alvaro Pierri, Lorenzo Micheli, etc.
Coming back to Hong Kong in 2010, Kenny continued his career both as a performer and an educator. He was invited to be the opening guest for Amadeus Guitar Duo in 2013 as well as a guest artist to perform with Roland Dyens' debut concert in Hong Kong in 2014. The legendary guitar master Roland Dyens, after the concert, gave a highly appreciated comment “… Kenny is a very talented guitarist, I wish him the best career possible, as he deserves!”.
Kenny recorded for local television, TVB, for the program "Cultural Plaza" several times and was also interviewed by local media Oriental Daily. He has performed concerts regularly ever since he has moved back to Hong Kong. In 2016, Kenny played his solo recital at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In the same year, he was invited both as an artist performer and a jury member at the 1st Altamira Hong Kong International Guitar Symposium.
His hobbies outside of music include soccer, reading, and cocktail mixing. His musical influences include the Beatles, J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Jobim, Joao Gilberto. Other influences include his family for their love and support. Kenny is also preparing to release his new album of Classical Guitar hopefully by the end of 2022.
