She completed her Bachelor degree in Music Education from China Conservatory of Music (Beijing, China). In 2012, she was awarded full scholarship to study in the University of Wyoming (United States), and served as teaching assistant. During her study in the United States, Dr. Xu was awarded the third prize at the regional MTNA competition, the biggest annual national music competition in the country. Due to her outstanding academic achievement, she was invited to be a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, a national music honor society in the United States. In 2014, Dr. Xu was admitted into the West Virginia University for her doctoral study where her research focus on piano music of Tan Dun. Her mentors includes Dr. Peter Amstutz, Dr. Theresa Bogard, Mrs. Guanwen Wang, and Mrs. Shuang Yang. Dr. Qian Xu performed actively throughout Asia, Europe, and North America. Her recent activities include performances in several cities in China, Thailand (Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy), Italy (Moger Arte e Cultura Società Cooperativa Sociale), and recitals in the United States. She had resided at Hong Kong since 2018 where she enjoys an active teaching and performing career.
